The HOA Board just wanted to touch base with everyone, in the event you read the Longmont Times Call this morning. As of yesterday, the Emerald Ash Borer is now in Longmont, at 9th/Hover. This is about 3 years faster than it was originally expected to reach Longmont, from the EAB infestation that was found in Boulder. As reported, the Emerald Ash Borer insect is devastating to ASH trees. You can only try to prevent an infestation, as there are not remedies to an infestation, other than a chainsaw.
All of the ASH trees in the common areas were treated for Emerald Ash Borer this spring, so the HOA should not have anything to worry about. We will continue to treat the ASH trees on an annual basis, to ensure we continue to try and prevent an infestation.
ALL HOMEOWNERS ARE RECOMMENDED TO CONSULT WITH A TREE CARE SPECIALISTS, TO TREAT THEIR INDIVIDUAL TREES. Trees in the community are maturing nicely, but all trees need some pruning and preventative maintenance care, to avoid insect infestations and catastrophic damage resulting from poor care.
